Welcome to Wakehurst - our 500 acre site offering a dog walk with a difference!

Our dog walking routes include a huge variety of landscapes and vistas around our extensive gardens.  You can experience the woodlands of the world, including our American redwoods in Horsebridge Wood, our National Birch Collection in Bethlehem Wood, the ancient Wollemi Pines in Coates Wood and our iconic Yew Tree Walk. Valleys and meadows feature too, as you take in Bloomers Valley and Meadow, Westwood Valley and Westwood Lake.

There is also a dedicated off lead area especially for dogs who like to run off some energy, located close to the Millennium Seed Bank, our Noah's Ark for plants.

Visitors and their dogs can also enjoy some down time together inside our dog-friendly Seeds Cafe, and outside the Stables Pantry. Our shop is also dog-friendly, stocked with a range of gifts, plants, books, homeware and dog treats!

Please note, as a botanical garden it is necessary to have some areas which are not open to dogs. These include the formal gardens around the Mansion and Mansion Pond, the Water Gardens, Coronation Meadow, Pearcelands Wood, American Prairie, Walled Garden and Pinetum

Grab a dog walking map at our entrance so you are prepared for the best places to get water, dog treats, waste bins and complimentary biodegradable waste bags. If you forget your short dog lead, you can borrow one from our Visitor Centre.

Please read our Canine Code and Everything you need to know about dog walking at Wakehurst for more detailed information.
